Apacalators battle report (using Red Sand, Black Moon rules)
It was only a slight bump in the Karthij market, but it was enough for Brutus to issue a brash challenge to the offender."No one touches Brutus Driver! I'm the best Qwik driver in the Rest of the Wasteland- and master with the halberd! I want your blood, waste rat!"
Only after Brutus had issued his challenge did he realize who his opponent was. It was Legarius of Capyooa, apocalator of the Wasteland, and he had been on a blood quest seeking just such a moment to hone his skills.
Legarius eyed Brutus and smiled lightly.
"Qwik is your game, and quick is your action, blood seeker. I accept your challenge. Place and time, driver?"
Brutus could not back down now. His reputation as a Qwik player and as a warrior stood on the brink.
"There's a field south of the Hell Forest- I'll see you at high sun!"
As an apocalator, Legarius was balanced in his abilities and master with the sword and shield.
Brutus was more talk than skill, but his experience on the qwik fields has given him great speed and reflexes, dangerous when coupled with his halberd. Still, Legarius outclassed Brutus, and they both knew it.
At the Hell Forest arena, the two fighters faced off. As a witness to the day's earlier events, Sharon of Styx was chosen to be patron to ensure that the fight was honorable.
Brutus took the initiative and quickly moved to the center of the arena with Legarius moving in to meet him. Brutus knew his weapon and had started to swing the nasty halberd before the two fighters reached one another. But it was a feint! Brutus reversed his swing impossibly and came down on Legarius's unshielded side. But Legarius, having fought more than 50 fights, had seen this maneuver before and was able to dodge the attack, sending Brutus's halberd into sand and rock. Brutus quickly recovered and the two fighters swung their weapons. Legarius parried Brutus's halberd again and again but was unable to find an opening to begin his own attack; Brutus was relentless; he was fighting scared.
And then it happened- Legarius, going all out, missed his mark, lost his balance and went stumbling past Brutus.
"South sands!" cursed Legarius.
And those proved to be the fighter's final words; Brutus was able to bring his halberd into Legarius's lower back, and the heavy rusted blade severed muscle and spine -- a killing stroke!
Outclassed in fighting ability and manners, Brutus's victory not only boosted his fighting ability, but also his confidence and his loud mouth.

Photos for Ken
Ken, you can click each pic for a larger version, This is most, but not all the figures. The remainder include a few armored and unarmored huscarls/bondi(?) and a couple more big-bearded bondi. Also, the Valkyrie are a little more "blue" in color than the photo shows.

ton Coliseum
About 150 miles east of Omha and 30 miles north of Demoyn is Lake Amnesia. The ruins of a large, ancient town dot the perimeter of the lake, but information on this town has been lost to the ages.
In the middle of the lake is the concrete ruins of an ancient (sports) arena known as "ton Coliseum." The "ton," as it is called, is an island with the open-air arena floor actually several feet below the level of the lake's surface. The only way to the arena is by boat or by flying. The arena isn't far from the shore, but swimming is not recommended (nor are smaller boats such as canoe). Something lives in the lake, but no one knows what -- well, some do, but they're not around anymore.
When Porker, Badder, Hoop and other mutant gangs want to settle a score, but don't want to expend resources, they can challenge one another to a smaller battle in the ton Coliseum. Other wasteland inhabitants come to witness these spectacles and to bet coin and supplies on the outcome. The contenders usually put up territories or leadership rights as wagers; and sometimes the battles are for supplies, including omega tech.
There are very few rules. Contestants must observe a truce when they travel to the ton, and must immediately forfeit whatever they wagered on the fight, but there are no rules protecting the spectators or detailing how a fight is to proceed. Sometimes, while a small battle rages in the arena, a much larger battle might be fought among the spectators.
Besides the fights, the ton is a wealth of information about Middle Meriga.
A small note: Archivists often visit the ruins around the lake searching for ancient technology known as "The 'Clones." They haven't found anything, but they keep searching.

War Rocket: 523rd Squadron dossier

523rd, detached surveillance squadron
“Sagan’s Scouts”
Captain Dick “Rip” Sagan, commanding
Motto: “Finders, keepers”
The 523rd is a relatively smaller squadron in the Galacteer fleet consisting of three flight surveillance teams and a command team. Each flight surveillance team has two Class II Supernova ships with stripped down weaponry to make space for sensory and data-gathering equipment. Three Class I Comets serve as escort. The command flight consist of a Class III Pulsar serving as a command post, and two Supernovas and three Comet as escort, for a total of 21 ships. The force is commonly attached to fleets in active theaters and rarely sees any downtime. Though Captain Sagan is in command, he likes to “get his hands dirty” and will usually pilot a Supernova in one of the surveillance flights.

The 523rd is responsible for seeking out the enemy beyond the usual combat space patrols with standing orders to find the enemy, observe and report movements, and beat a hasty retreat. Though listed as a surveillance/scout squadron, Rip Sagan has a reputation shirking orders and taking his flights directly into combat once the enemy is found. Cpt. Sagan even has a habit of removing sensory equipment to make space for torpedoes. Galacteer combat units usually only arrive after they hear the battle chatter from Sagan’s pilots. Sometimes, fleet command sends a combat unit to “escort” the scout teams. Though known as “Sagan’s Scouts,” the fleet jokingly refers to the 523rd as “Sagan’s Sideshow” since the unit always seems to want to put on a little bit of entertainment before the main show begins.
Captain Sagan insists the 523rd IS the main show.
Rear Admiral “Bulldog” Blake threw the scotch glass past Cpt. Sagan who stood unflenchingly at attention.
“INTERSTELLAR FLAGRANCY!!!”
“Sir.”
“You took two Supernovas on a torpedo run against the Tiamat?! What the hell were you thinking?!”
“Sir, I was thinking of killing the Tiamat. There’s always a chance. Sir.”
“There’s always a chance that I’m gonna kick you in the pants and demote you to command of a mining hulk! Your mission is to find the enemy and reports his movements! What part of those orders can’t you handle?”
“Sir, my orders were understood, and my mission was complete. I saw an advantage. My boys and I took it. Sir.”
“Advantage? Advantage?! The Tiamat and the entire Fangs squadron, and you had an advantage?! What in the hell was this ‘advantage’ you had, pray tell.”
“Sir, we had gumption. Sir.”
Bulldog stopped, thumbed an itch on his chin as he eyed Captain Sagan. The war wasn’t going well, and the rear admiral knew the fleet needed to take chances if it was going to regain any momentum. But high command had been riding him since Sagan’s Sideshow had been attached to his fleet, and he needed to vent to the younger officers.
That was all part of his plan, though: He knew, Captain Sagan, under that eyepatch, was red with fury. He knew Captain Sagan would not show anger to anyone but his own men. And he knew Captain Sagan would take out all that rage against the forces of Marduk.
Bulldog smiled inside. Even though Captain Sagan sensed it, he didn’t say anything. The rear admiral sat down, opened the desk drawer and pulled out another scotch glass and a bottle. He poured himself a drink.
“Rip, if you break any of my ships, I’m gonna send you giftwrapped to Emperor Marduk. Get the hell outta here.”
Captain Sagan saluted, turned and walked out of the office thinking about how lucky he would be to meet the emperor, and of how many torpedoes he would bring to that meeting.
